Medical alarm systems that are sometimes also referred to as medical alert systems are able to do a lot to protect your loved ones by providing necessary information to the emergency services and that too by working non-stop and so, they are well worth using in case your loved one has become too weak to fend for them or because severe ill health requires an alarm system in place to ensure their continued safe health. Essentially, medical alarm systems are small medical devices used for personal emergencies and they work seven days in the week and twenty-four hours in the day.

Wireless And Very Small

When the medical alarm systems sound off, it alerts medical professionals that their patient requires immediate attention and thus cuts down the lead time in providing quick relief. Most modern medical alarm systems are wireless and very small, and in fact, the modern devices being used today are so small that they can even be worn like pendants, necklaces or even as a wrist watch and what’s more, even on key chains. Some people even use them as medical alert bracelets.

To ensure that the wearer does not accidentally do them unwanted harm, most medical alarm systems are also made waterproof. What’s more, using such medical alarm systems can be a real boon for the elderly who are able to derive a number of benefits from these tiny devices including making them achieve greater independence while also not compromising on their safety. Also, these medical alarm systems provide emergency services through issuing of a timely alert and thus help to a great deal in improving the quality of life of the wearer.

Another positive to using medical alarm systems is that they are very easy to use and they can easily be set up without much fuss or bother since, to make them work, you don’t need more than a reliable telephone line in your residence through which the alarm connects to the emergency services whenever the need for emergency or receiving other kind of help arises.

Basically, medical alarm systems work in a simple manner and they are activated whenever the wearer presses on an emergency button which in turn alerts the medical alert system which causes information to be passed onto the console. This in turn causes the system to contact the twenty-four hour response center or dials the emergency contacts that the wearer had provided to the alert system. In case there is no response from either end, the medical alarm system will then dial emergency numbers continuously, or even dial 911 whenever necessary.

The bottom line is that medical alarm systems are not mere conveniences, but are aids to the infirm that help them remain active, independent as well as gives them peace of mind knowing that they will receive timely aid in case as soon as it becomes necessary.

    Hello,

I enjoyed your blog and your writings on the senior medical alert issue. I work for a company called LifeStation (a senior medical alert provider). We receive tons of testimonials from our customers on a daily basis telling us how the medical alert service helps them regain that peace of mind knowing that their elderly parents can get help when home alone with a simple push of a button. I personally would love to contribute to an article about medical alerts if you feel that it will help your blog readers. There are many companies in this field and there is a lot of fraud going on from some “basement” companies that people should be cautious about. We even wrote an article on how to choose the right company … http://www.lifestation.com/how_choose.php

Even though we are interested in “publicity” we are glad to give our input without any recognition simply because this is a great product/service that has given millions of caregivers peace of mind.

Good post – the key is to make sure the senior wears the alert. I recommend getting an extra button for the bathroom where most falls take place.
