The company you’ve come to depend on for quality large and small appliances also makes quality home security systems. Basically, if a device has wires in it, GE will make their own version of it. With advances in wireless technology, GE alarm systems are more versatile and more affordable for homes, businesses and property. You can find GE alarm systems in apartment complexes, government offices and military installations as well as private homes.

Connected Home

If you are looking for GE alarm systems for an individual home, then you will be looking in a category GE calls “connected home systems”. This doesn’t mean your house has to be physically connected to other houses in order for the GE alarm systems to work – it just means that with your laptop or control panel, you can stay connected to what’s going on all over the house.

Most GE alarm systems for individual homes are now easy and small enough to not require professional installation. This means you can install it yourself at your time and convenience. At least you don’t have to wait around all day staring at the clock waiting for “the guy” to show up. You receive instructions written in modern English instead of “geek-ese”.

There are several components to GE alarm system for homes. You get a big box of electrical fun. If you’ve ever put together a model car or anything from Ikea, then you already have the skills to put together GE alarm systems. If you know how to program your DVD player, then you DEFINITELY have the skills to put your new alarm kit together.

You get a tower (which looks like your computer tower), shelving, power assembly, relays and all kinds of wires with flashing buttons. Before you get any alarm system, you should check to be sure you have the technical specifications needed to run your new system. You also get telephone numbers for technical and customer support in case you run into installation problems or have questions about the system in general.

Where To Buy

You can buy GE alarm systems directly from GE’s website, but many prefer to buy from GE vendors, especially if the vendor offers little extras like free shipping that GE doesn’t offer. There are many home security stores online that sell GE alarm systems and offer extra customer support. There are systems available for sale on eBay, but you don’t get any technical support with them.
